The selection of families who purchase homes from Habitat for Humanity is done by the Family Selection Committee using the criteria listed below in a way that does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, race, age, handicap, religion, national origin, family status or marital status, or because all or part of income is derived from any public assistance program.

You or someone you know could become a Habitat Family if. . .

• Your current housing is not adequate and you are not able to obtain good housing through other means.
• You are currently spending too much of your monthly income on housing.
• Your income falls within the HUD annual income guidelines below.
• You have lived or worked in Canyon County for at least six months.
• You have the ability to pay the zero interest, monthly mortgage payment.
• You are willing to complete between 300 to 500 hours of volunteer work, or "sweat equity" prior to moving into your home.
• You are willing to "Partner" with Habitat for Humanity by attending home ownership classes, preparing a family budget prior to final selection and provide a down payment of $500 prior to construction beginning.
• You are able to maintain and make repairs on your home.
